For Murray Goodwin, the athletics journey he has taken would be described as anything but normal. It started off in the regular way with his dad introducing him to little athletics at a young age, but from then on it has been far from conventional. In little athletics, he held records and made state teams in a variety of events. Hurdles, 200m, 400m, 800m were his focus across different seasons. But to him athletics was just a small part of his sporting focus, playing a variety of sports through his teenage years, and once he left school and athletics competitions began to dry up, soccer became his main focus. "I always knew I was more talented at athletics, but I loved the team environment of soccer" says Goodwin.
